Practice

 

Martin O’Toole began his career in the early 1990s completing extensive home renovations on Sydney’s lower north shore. With a desire for life in the country and to design new modern farmhouses he moved to the Southern Highlands of NSW. In 1997 he founded the firm Martin O’Toole Architects in Bowral.

 

We are a boutique practice with a specialty in contemporary country homes. Acreage projects have a unique set of challenges and opportunities which can have elegant solutions. Over many years we have refined our approach to the masterplanning and design of these homes. Listening to clients and responding to individual sites is our passion. We now have projects throughout Australia from rural Victoria to QLD’s Sunshine Coast.

 

Andrew Lowden joined the team in 2002 and brought the experience of larger international projects. Jon Buttsworth expanded our reach into QLD in 2022 and continues to raise the bar on design and presentation. Design is a team sport and so collaboration within our studio and with our clients is key to our approach.
